An offence that is tried in the Crown Court. It can be an 'Either Way' charge which is sent ot the Crown Court or a more serious 'Indictable Only', e.g. murder

Justice of the Peace
For certain offenders and certain charges legal aid can be granted where the offender does not have to pay for legal representation in court. Not all offenders receive this, only if the charge is serious enough and if they have a difficult financial situation

Information put to the court by the defence to reduce the sentence
Mitigation
The procedure by which Magistrates decide whether an ‘either way’ offence can be tried by them or the Crown Court. The defendant can still decide where he/she wishes to be tried
